Christmas and New year

Fashion

Hello all, hope your having a really good Christmas. Here are some of the beautiful presents I received this year…

Green tea soap, Eton Mess chocolates, Marks and Spencer chocolates, Elie Saab perfume

I recently handed in my proposal for my final major project. The project is based around promoting awareness for women with low self esteem, through fashion. I want to photograph women who have had problems involving self esteem, and show what a positive influence fashion can be, instead of some of the negative influences it has had in the past on young women. Here are just a couple of photographs I took for the proposal…

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on this! Time goes so fast, and not necessarily when your having fun. More like when you have lot’s to think about.

2013 looks set to be an eventful year as i’ll be graduating from university, saving up to go travelling and god knows where i’ll be living! It’s crazy to think where i’ll be this time next year…

Now, I know it’s just gone present time, but there are still pieces of clothing I want. There are always clothes I want. Here is a quick list of things i’ll probably be buying when I get my loan…

Scenic Painting Print Umbrella Skirt

Skirt, £24.84 Romwe

Ice cream socks, £3.10 Nastygal

I will always want these but can never justify paying £75 for them. American apparel disco pants.

Last but not least I really want to go to Glastonbury. I didn’t get tickets when they went on sale because the internet in my student house is absolutely shocking. I’ll be ready and waiting at my house in Bristol with the much faster internet, when they go on sale in April!

Thanks for reading as always 🙂

Day in London: Shoreditch

Fashion photography, My photography

Last week I took a trip to London with my friend, to take some photographs for my uni project. The day went really well, although I may have got a bit distracted at the start because we met in Oxford street….

We made our way to Shoreditch about mid-day, thankfully the weather was good. I’ve never been to Shoreditch before, in fact i’m probably a bit clueless when it comes to a lot of London areas, but I really liked it and found it to be very inspiring. There are a lot of vintage shops one in particular called Blitz.

I loved this cupboard!

Blitz was huge, if I had more time I would have stayed and probably spent a lot of money in there but we were already running short on time. It also had a coffee shop which was cute, definitely recommend to anyone visiting around the area.

Taking photographs of people in Shoreditch was fun, everyone was really friendly and most people were happy to have there photograph taken.

I will be going back there at some point this week to finish my project off. It’s turning into a very expensive year already! Hope to update you soon.

Thanks for reading!

New projects, things to look forward to!

Fashion

Hello! I’m in an excited mood at the moment but also a stressful one… I think its important to have a certain amount of stress in your life otherwise its all pretty mundane.

I’m back at uni and we already have so much work to do. I’m currently working on a 6 week project on street style in London. We have to choose an area of London that’s trendy and interesting, then go and photograph people there. I’m trying to visit Shoreditch this coming Wednesday but I think the weather might let me down. This rain is constant over here in England!

Here are some interesting concepts of different street styles and how its photographed.

Japanese Street Style

Japanese street style

It’s become an interest to everyone, even people that don’t have a specific interest in fashion. The Japanese street style is so unique, and sort of surreal. Pat Lyttle’s book ‘Japanese street style’ is available on Amazon as a paperback.

The Sartorialist

Most people who surf fashion Blogs will have heard of this well known street style photographer. Scott Schuman’s work has also been featured in magazines like GQ and Italian Vogue, along with ad campaigns for DKNY, Gant etc. The way he captures people is really interesting and his collection of images are all so diverse there’s a style for everyone.

Lace top meets leather leggings – a couple that couldn’t be more different but as you know for sure: opposites attract.

We’ll be ‘trick or treating’ in this logo tee!

Zebra Katz has got his eyes on you!

Topshop

If your not already following them on tumblr or facebook then you definitely should do! I’m sure you are… So many well dressed people, so much clothing envy!

I also have a dissertation idea! So far, I want to do a fashion film inspired by Alfred Hitchcocks ‘The Birds’.

And I cannot wait for the BBC 2 film  depicting the manipulative nature of Alfred Hitchcock’s relationship with actress Tippi Hedren. Sienna Miller plays Tippi. I’m not sure when its on but it sounds so interesting. The film is said to suggest Hitchcock blackmailed her into having sex with him by threatening her career.

Fraught relationship: A still from the new film; Hitchcock was obsessed with his star

Thanks for reading! I’ll be updating the blog with progress on my projects shortly. As always any thoughts and comments are very welcome.

Style inspo, Lana Del Rey and Inez and Vinoodh

Fashion photography

Yet another post I am doing in the middle of the night. I have always found it easier to get inspired in the evenings 🙂

Just thought I would show you some of the things a bought this week. I didn’t spend a crazy amount, and I think I did quite well! I always forget how good H&M is, and how affordable the clothes normally are.

Shoes £40 from Urban Outfitters, Skirt £14.99 from H&M and T-shirt £7 also from H&M

Yes! The shoes I posted about previously were £40, reduced from £119. I went to the Urban Outfitters in Bristol, completely forgot about the shoes because I decided I was never going to find them cheap enough. How happy was I to find them in a size 6 (last ones left!) and not £70 but now £40!? It was definitely meant to be. I am however a size 5, but they fit well enough.

Me, Wearing them 🙂

Have you seen the Lana Del Rey for H&M adverts? The angora jumpers look so lovely…

She is beautiful. The photographs are shot by Inez and Vinoodh, a male and female duo from Amsterdam. The pair have been shooting together for almost two decades and have shot campaigns for Balmain, Chloe, Dior, Gucci and many many more. They recently shot one of the five videos for Lady Gaga’s single ‘ You and I‘.

Here are some more amazing photographs they have taken…

Love the mixture of drawings and photography

Mila Kunis

Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger

There are so many more, go and check out their website http://inezandvinoodh.com

I’m off to get some sleep, hope you enjoyed reading this post!

New beginnings!

Fashion

Again, I have left later than I should to post since the last. I really enjoy blogging and hope to make it a much more consistent and regular pastime of mine now!

It’s only 4 weeks until I go back to uni now. I’m looking forward to it and also slightly dreading it… I think i’m probably the only one ha. It will be good to feel like i’m working towards something I love again, instead of putting in a load of hours every week at Primark. One thing that will be amazing this month is my paycheck! I’ll finally be able to afford clothes!!!! Here are some of the websites I’ve been stalking whilst eagerly awaiting payment.

Wulfrun Wedge Tan Leopard

These are from http://www.underground-cybershop.co.uk/ and I think they are awesome. They are a wopping £119 which is slightly expensive for me… although Urban Outfitters were doing them for £70 but only in a size 7 which I am unfortunately not. This site has a range of really cool Creepers, winkle pickers (not so much my thing) and Dr Marten type boots. I really like the Dr Marten ones as well especially these…

Ranger Burgundy Leather

Another site I can’t get enough of is http://www.romwe.com/. Literally, this site is a godsend! It does free shipping worldwide and the clothes aren’t even expensive. It’s really good for leggings, here are a few of my faves…

They also have all the galaxy print ones and a lightening bolt pair which I want to get.

Multi Point Spike Headband

This headband caught my eye as well, these are all over tumblr and lookbook. Honestly, go and look at the site and I guarantee you WILL want to buy all of it.

http://www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk is also looking good as always. This bag in particular looks like something I might desperately need soon…

Apparently ‘Ellie Goulding loves!’…

This dress is way to expensive but if you want it get it from Urban Outfitters not Asos because Urban Outfitters do it cheaper. I may have to just treat myself to it.

So there are just some of the things I might be buying soon. Knowing me I’ll probably forget about them and see something else and buy that instead! I’m no good with planning anything. I hope I don’t forget about them though.

Here are some Tumblr images that have inspired me recently! My page is http://hoyhoygirl.tumblr.com/ enjoy 🙂
