Well, the weather is pretty horrific at the moment. Flooding, 80 mph winds and it’s pretty cold to top it off. My room is an absolute ice cavern because the window is a poor excuse for a window and my bed is cleverly placed right in front of the radiator, therefore blocking much of the heat that would otherwise be heating the entire room. I should probably do something about that.
Me and my boyfriend braved the weather for a day out at Weston Super Mare on Sunday, a seaside town near Bristol. I hadn’t been to Weston since I was very young, so this was a nice trip down memory lane. I really do enjoy beaches when its cold and windy, there’s something really moody and emotional about it.
We went to this AMAZING chip shop called Papas http://www.papasukltd.com/ and it was seriously amazing. I’m a veggie so I didn’t have the cod but they did these insane Battered garlic mushrooms.
I definitely recommend it.
At the moment things are a bit tight with money, so I have less and less cash to spend on clothes etc. However, I went to Taunton yesterday to visit my Nana and we ended up in Topshop. I found these silver shoes for £7! Absolute bargain, I couldn’t say no. Along with that I bought a pack of silver and gold rings that were in the sale, and it all came to £10.50 which I didn’t feel too guilty about.

… or pleather! As a veggie I try to go for pleather, but I cannot say for sure I don’t own anything that is actually leather.
Way back when I used to work at House of Fraser, I wore pleather shorts and trousers to work, and that was about five years ago now. I think it’s always going to come back into fashion, but you have to be careful not to over do it and look tacky. I don’t know why I love it so much, probably stems from the 90’s in some way. The new issue of Elle UK has a free Style for less magazine, and they have some great leather pieces in there. Here are some of my favourites.
Whistles leather shirt £295
Leather mini skirt £69.99 Mango
If your vegetarian like me and prefer the fake stuff, there are some great alternatives. It’s also a tad cheaper, so that’s a bonus.
Jacket £56.42 Nasty Gal
Black shorts £34 Topshop
I’ve seen some amazing editorials recently. I do love it when they bring in all the Autumn/Winter collections. I just feel like there is more to wear and be creative with. Here are some leather themed pictures from my favourite editorials recently.

So there’s my little update on the leather trend, it’s not a trend loved by everyone but I think it’s become a lot broader recently. You can now to the tailored look with leather, as there are so many straight cut leather shirts out there, it doesn’t have to be biker chick!
Until next time!
I have lived in Bristol all my life, bar my three years spent in Southampton whilst attending university, and I still think it’s one of the most exciting cities to grow up in. There is always something to do or see, whatever interests you may have. Yesterday I went for a mini explore around my hometown with my sister Olivia. It’s pretty hard not to bump into some sort of street art in Bristol, and the centre is full of wonderful huge scale paintings done by different artists.
Of course Bristol is famous for being the hometown of Banksy, the infamous graffiti artist, and maybe this has something to do with it’s street art culture! Another famous figure from this city is Brunel, who built our train station and iconic suspension Bridge.

After shopping around for a bit we were absolutely starving and decided to go to The Watershed for some nachos. The Watershed is a great coffee shop/bar on the waterfront, and a perfect stop off after a shopping spree! Here you’ll find a picture of me stuffing my face and loving life….
This may have been taken after we’d tucked into them a bit….
Me enjoying the nacho’s a bit to much…

A hole in the wall!?
This is just a small photo diary of a city with many more photograph opportunities and sites to see. I hope this gives you an idea of what a great place this is to visit!
Thanks for reading as always 🙂
I have acquired a fan and some cooling spray since the last post which means I no longer feel on the verge of passing out from the heat!
The other day I got my hair cut (finally)! I don’t miss having long hair yet, but I know I’ll start to get jealous of people with longer locks than me soon. It’s just inevitable, even though I love my shorter much more easier to manage style. Having long hair is fun because you can do so much with it, but mine was so damaged I had to get rid of it. I dye my hair blonde when I can and the ends weren’t taking to the dye anymore. Next on the to do list is dying my hair the colour I actually want it! My hairdresser offered to do this for me next time I come in. To give you an idea of the colour, here’s a pic of Marina and the Diamonds with more or less what I want.
Yesterday me and my friend Alice had a budget night in, drinking left over beers in the garden and watching Deep blue sea (such an underrated movie!?!?) on the telly.
I’ll leave you with a song a really like at the moment by Temple Songs, a new band from Manchester.
Elle UK magazine is probably my favourite fashion magazine. I love the photography and styling, plus the written pieces are always interesting, although I feel like they have stopped doing as many. I really loved the ‘Elle memoir’ pieces. Please don’t lose them Elle!
This months cover star is Pixie Geldof, daughter of Bob Geldof and sister of Peaches Geldof. I do like Pixie’s style and I think she comes across quite well in interviews. Before reading the interview this month I admit I had struggled to pin point what her actual job is, and well lets face it, she has had a lot of opportunity come her way due to being a Geldof. However, she has this band now called Violet and I listened to one of her songs and its not awful. I quite like it.
The video was directed by Alasdair McLellan, a photographer I really love. Here are my faves from the Elle UK piece.

Hello again. I am so jealous of everyone going to Glastonbury! I could not stop setting myself up for disappointment this year where Glastonbury tickets were concerned. Firstly I tried to get one when they first went on sale, ignoring the fact our internet connection in Southampton was the slowest ever. I didn’t get a ticket. That was bad enough, but then I decided I was going to give it a shot at the resale. That might have been fine but I quickly realised I couldn’t afford it and sort of half tried to get one, knowing that if I did I would be EXTREMELY poor. I didn’t get one again… which I was sort of glad about. After that I entered a couple of competitions…. it didn’t happen.
I’ve just spent the last of those Topshop vouchers finally 🙂
Earring’s from Topshop sale!
Lipstick from Topshop in Rockabilly
Nail varnish Hed Kandi Ibiza mix from Models Own.
I’ve just moved out properly from my house in Southampton. This means I have a ton of crap that I don’t know whether I want or not lying around my room. Still, it’s looking a lot better than it did after I had a little revamp.
… and here’s my cat looking cute
So the weather has actually been okay! It’s been pretty hot in Bristol today.
My Mum and Dad have left me and my sister for Portugal this week. Yes, I am jealous. At least it isn’t raining here though, although Portugal is meant to be about 30 degrees. English summer will always be average compared to the rest of Europe (and most of the world)…. but I really don’t mind, just as long as it doesn’t rain!
Anyway, enough weather talk. My parents also gave me some Topshop vouchers as a finishing university present. Yay! For me this is the perfect present because I actually won’t be able to afford to buy clothes for myself for a very long time. I have so many things I have to save up for and I haven’t even got a job yet! Okay, I say this but I usually just buy clothes anyway even though I shouldn’t, don’t we all? So, today I went in to town and spent almost all of it.
Polka dot shirt and white lace T-shirt both Topshop, sandals from Office at Topshop
I love this shirt!!! I’m so pleased with my purchases.
Until next time 🙂
As I write this I am hungry. What shall I eat? I’m trying to cut down on cheese, as I do tend to put it in everything, although I could do worse. Apparently dairy can make you more intelligent, because it has Iodine in it. So that’s good I suppose. I’ll hold on to that fact.
At the moment I’m looking for a full time job, and there doesn’t seem to be any that provide more than an 8 or 16 hour contract a week. Either that or they’re all temporary! Frustration.
Putting the dairy and job stuff aside, here’s some fashion for you! This is one of my favourite dresses from Romwe and my all time favourite shoes from Underground.
The lip stick is from Topshop and the shade is called ‘Arcade’.
I have been lusting after some rings from www.emptycasket.com. Empty casket (if you don’t already know) is an online jewellery store, everything is hand made with a ‘grungey vibe’. Here are some of my favourites….

Here are some pictures from yesterday! They are a follow up to the Bristol graffiti post I posted a few weeks back. Its all part of a feature for Religion magazine, focusing on Bristol’s style. The pictures above were taken at BS8 on park street, an independent clothes shop selling vintage clothing as well as small high street brands. It’s a great place to go if your after something original.
Thanks for reading!
(So this week I’ve been working on several different features for my magazine. I don’t post everything I do on here, only snapshots of parts of my work. I get all my ideas through past and present magazines I have enjoyed reading, plus many different ESTABLISHED photographers. I suppose if someone is rigorously going through my blog that can become a bit confusing and some people might start getting very bizarre Ideas, especially if they’ve got a screw or two lose 🙂 It’s always nice when people take a lot of interest in my blog)
I am really excited about the Glastonbury line up… even though I’m not going for definite. I have got tickets on the re-sale before, and I will again!
Next week I’ll be doing some more shoots around Bristol, and hopefully get some street style shots in there. I’ve also got a few exciting written features lined up for the magazine! I’m really happy with the work I’ve done so far, but now getting a bit panicky about the deadline…
Here are some more pictures I have taken over the last few weeks. I’ve got another shoot lined up next week!
This shoot was all about clashing colours with lots of inspiration from alternative fashion sites. I also wanted it to have a slightly dreamy effect.
This was a beauty/portrait shoot I did outside for a separate feature. It was so cold shooting this!
Thanks for reading, any questions just ask me. No crazies though!
