Hello again. I am so jealous of everyone going to Glastonbury! I could not stop setting myself up for disappointment this year where Glastonbury tickets were concerned. Firstly I tried to get one when they first went on sale, ignoring the fact our internet connection in Southampton was the slowest ever. I didn’t get a ticket. That was bad enough, but then I decided I was going to give it a shot at the resale. That might have been fine but I quickly realised I couldn’t afford it and sort of half tried to get one, knowing that if I did I would be EXTREMELY poor. I didn’t get one again… which I was sort of glad about. After that I entered a couple of competitions…. it didn’t happen.
I’ve just spent the last of those Topshop vouchers finally 🙂
Earring’s from Topshop sale!
Lipstick from Topshop in Rockabilly
Nail varnish Hed Kandi Ibiza mix from Models Own.
I’ve just moved out properly from my house in Southampton. This means I have a ton of crap that I don’t know whether I want or not lying around my room. Still, it’s looking a lot better than it did after I had a little revamp.
… and here’s my cat looking cute
Here are some pictures from yesterday! They are a follow up to the Bristol graffiti post I posted a few weeks back. Its all part of a feature for Religion magazine, focusing on Bristol’s style. The pictures above were taken at BS8 on park street, an independent clothes shop selling vintage clothing as well as small high street brands. It’s a great place to go if your after something original.
Thanks for reading!
Hello, It’s been a while since my last post. I am currently only a few months away from 3rd year ending, which is pretty terrifying! Soon I’ll be trying to get a proper job…
At the moment I’m working on my final major project, which by the end of it I need to produce a whole magazine. The magazine is going to feature a more diverse range of fashion model, from body shape to ethnicity. The point of the magazine is not to fall into the trap of the rigid fashion culture which presents mainly skinny very young white girls as fashion models. Of course many magazines are not guilty of this, and a lot is changing in the diversity of fashion models. I also want to do features within the magazine that come from a more intelligent angle, as opposed to diet and celebrity features. I have never produced a magazine before, so it’s going to be a challenge, but I’m excited.
Here is my first shoot. The trend is monochrome, and it has a bit of an 80’s feel to it. Hope you like it!
Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading x
Hello! I’m in an excited mood at the moment but also a stressful one… I think its important to have a certain amount of stress in your life otherwise its all pretty mundane.
I’m back at uni and we already have so much work to do. I’m currently working on a 6 week project on street style in London. We have to choose an area of London that’s trendy and interesting, then go and photograph people there. I’m trying to visit Shoreditch this coming Wednesday but I think the weather might let me down. This rain is constant over here in England!
Here are some interesting concepts of different street styles and how its photographed.
Japanese street style
It’s become an interest to everyone, even people that don’t have a specific interest in fashion. The Japanese street style is so unique, and sort of surreal. Pat Lyttle’s book ‘Japanese street style’ is available on Amazon as a paperback.
Most people who surf fashion Blogs will have heard of this well known street style photographer. Scott Schuman’s work has also been featured in magazines like GQ and Italian Vogue, along with ad campaigns for DKNY, Gant etc. The way he captures people is really interesting and his collection of images are all so diverse there’s a style for everyone.
If your not already following them on tumblr or facebook then you definitely should do! I’m sure you are… So many well dressed people, so much clothing envy!
I also have a dissertation idea! So far, I want to do a fashion film inspired by Alfred Hitchcocks ‘The Birds’.
And I cannot wait for the BBC 2 film depicting the manipulative nature of Alfred Hitchcock’s relationship with actress Tippi Hedren. Sienna Miller plays Tippi. I’m not sure when its on but it sounds so interesting. The film is said to suggest Hitchcock blackmailed her into having sex with him by threatening her career.
Thanks for reading! I’ll be updating the blog with progress on my projects shortly. As always any thoughts and comments are very welcome.
Hello and thank you to everyone who’s been reading my blog over the last month or so, I have been pretty busy. A lot has been happening, as it’s the last month till a begin my final year of uni! Now I only have a weekend and then uni on Monday!! I’m actually pretty excited…
Last week I got given an amazing opportunity to take photographs at London fashion week. This was given to me by my university as part of a competition for Canon. I was extremely nervous on the few days leading up to it but the day went really well, however I was very tired… I woke up at 5 in the morning! We basically shot two shows, one which showcased up and coming trends for Autumn/Winter and another for Issa London. It was so fun, something I would definitely be interested in doing again.
Here are some of the photographs I took for the trends show.
And here are the photographs from the Issa London show!
… and those were just my favorites. I did take quite a few images.
I really liked the clothes for the Issa show, especially the turquoise dresses at the end, the print is gorgeous! The metallic trend is definitely in this coming winter.
Hope you like the photographs and please don’t hesitate to comment on the post! Soon I will be doing a lot more editorial work as I will be back at uni so i’ll be posting a lot more of my own photography.
Thanks for reading 🙂
The party season and the festival season collide with this trend. Its all about being the ‘Maximalist’ instead of the minimalist. Remember when you used to raid your mums wardrobe when you were young? Imagine that but with a touch more class…
Think prints, embellishments, embroidery, sequins, layers, tonnes of jewelry… express yourself! This trend reminds me of these cool little gift shops I used to go to when I was younger. They smelt of incense, and it seemed like there was just endless amounts of interesting things in them. You don’t have to dress up like a gift shop… you could just bring a touch of ‘ Maximilist’ to a part of your outfit.

The more colorful and busy the outfit the better. But what about the growing popularity of tattoos now? It seems that the more you have the better, and the bigger the better. Its not just clothes you can use to express yourself, more and more people are choosing to get their skin inked these days and the maximilist trend combined with tattoos could create an amazing look.
Ok i’m tired, hope you enjoyed this post!
